This course is great for anyone interested in flight training or an experienced pilot looking for a refresher.
CCA offers an in-person Private Pilot Ground School course designed to prepare you to be a knowledgeable pilot.
This is a classroom-based instructional course developed to prepare you to take the FAA Private Pilot Airplane Knowledge Test (PAR).
We host three, 15-week long courses throughout the year. For specific dates, see below.
Classes are conducted twice weekly – Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm at CCA.
Not only do we cover the required topics, but also help you prepare for taking the FAA Knowledge Test.
Content taught in our course is set by the FAA per FAR 61.105
The following books will be provided at the beginning of the course. All materials may also be obtained digitally on the FAA’s website.
The FAA Private Pilot Airplane Knowledge Test consists of 60 multiple choice questions and are allotted 2.5 hours to complete the test. The FAA requires a minimum score of 70% to pass the test. To make an appointment for the Private Pilot Airplane Knowledge Test (PAR) go to https://faa.psiexams.com/faa/login. Upon registration, an additional fee of $160 is required. We recommend taking the test within two weeks of receiving the instructor endorsement.
Yes, ground school is required for all certificates and ratings, but there are many delivery methods available. We offer live, in-person classes or online classes. There online programs are taught by King Schools and are available to purchase as a package at CCA. Ground school is the best way to prepare for your FAA written test.
CCA’s own FAA Certified Ground or Flight Instructor will teach ground school. Each course utilizes our most experienced Instructors.
The purpose of our 15-week ground school course is to prepare you to be the most knowledgeable pilot; as well as, best prepare you for the FAA written exam. We’re here to make sure you are fully prepared for this challenging test.
CCA will provide the FAA’s Airplane Flying Handbook, Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, Aviation Weather Handbook and FAR/AIM. With that you will have all of the information necessary to ace the FAA knowledge test.

At the beginning of ground school, be sure you have all of the required materials.
Always stay up to date with the course and required readings. While in class, take notes and be sure to highlight topics you have a harder time with so that you can study them further on your own.
